COVID-19 testing for people with symptoms

There are several sites in Sussex where polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests can be booked. You should get a test if you have symptoms

You can now take a lateral flow test on day 5 and 6 of your self-isolation. If both results are negative, isolation can be ended early. You can order coronavirus (COVID-19) rapid lateral flow tests online (GOV.UK) or ask someone to collect tests from a pharmacy for you.

How to book a test

Tests in Sussex are arranged nationally. You can book a test online or by calling 119. Alternatively, if you report symptoms in the NHS COVID-19 app, you’ll be directed to where you can book a test.

You can choose to visit a testing site or order a kit for at home. You should book an appointment to visit one of our test sites.

The main drive-through testing sites in Sussex are at:

  • Bexhill
  • Plumpton

There are walk-through sites in Sussex at:

  • Eastbourne
  • Hailsham
  • Hastings

If there are no slots at these sites, you will be offered an appointment at the next closest testing site. If you are not able to get to the alternative site, try to book again a few hours later.

Mobile testing units also operate in Sussex on certain days. These will be publicised in advance on our social media on Twitter and Facebook.
