Start school travel in September

If your child qualifies for free transport we’ll email you to ask you to register and upload a photo. 

When to expect your email

We’ll email you to let you know how to register. 

  • if you applied as a low-income family, expect your email in early August 
  • for all other applications, you should hear from us from July onwards 

Follow the instructions in your email to register for your transport.

How to get your travel pass

We will send the following to your home address during August: 

  • Freedom Passes for travel on buses in East Sussex 
  • Travel permits for our hired coaches 
  • Rail Key cards 

 

Continue school travel in September

How to continue on public transport, by coach or with a travel pass 

First: 

  • We’ll email you to explain how to re-register 
  • You’ll need  to upload a new photo of your child 

Next, we’ll send you your travel pass. 

How to get your new pass to continue travel

We’ll ask you to confirm your home address. And then we’ll send out your passes and permits.  

You’ll receive these in August: 

  • Freedom Passes for travel on buses in East Sussex 
  • Travel permits for our hired coaches 

If your child travels by rail, they can keep using their Rail key card. But you’ll need to: 

  • sign up again 
  • provide a new photo 

What to do if you need a new pass

We’ll post you a new card if: 

  • if you request a replacement for a lost/damaged one 
  • if your child turns 16 and needs an adult card 

When you will get your email

  • We’ll email low-income families in early August 
  • We’ll send all other emails from July onwards
