We are recruiting an Administrative Support Officer to join the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) service which sits within the Children’s Service Safeguarding Unit.  As a member of the team, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks to assist the efficient running of the service by providing administrative support to the LADO Officer and LADO Assistant.

The Local Authority Designated Officer is responsible for co-ordinating the response if an allegation is made against staff or volunteers who work with children. The majority of allegations against staff or volunteers relate to their behaviour in the workplace however some concerns may relate to their personal life or care of their own children.

You will need to have experience and confidence working across a wide range of administrative tasks including information technology systems, spreadsheets, and administrating databases.   The role involves updating information onto information systems held by the LADO service, the Local Authority’s database system and spreadsheets. You will need to assist in the production of correspondence and reports from written documents and other sources, including research and analysis as appropriate and to produce data to contribute to weekly and monthly LADO review of cases and LADO annual report.

You will need to undertake minutes of complex meetings about clients: Minute, produce and distribute accurate records of meeting, including safeguarding, LADO evaluation meetings, LADO professionals meetings, strategy discussions which involve adults who work /volunteer with children and complex case meetings, in accordance with statutory and local guidance.

The role requires someone who can demonstrate tact and sensitivity in their administrative duties and tasks, dealing with some emotive and stressful situations, so the ability to manage this will be important. The LADO service processes highly sensitive personal information. You will be responsible for following standards and procedures for ensuring client confidentiality.

You will need to be a good communicator, liaising with a variety of professionals and other agencies is at the forefront of our service. Strong attention to detail and accuracy are essential.   Experience and/or working knowledge of Children’s Services would be desirable.

There will be conflicting demands which will require you to manage your time, to organise and prioritise your workload to ensure deadlines are met. The ability to work collaboratively and flexibly is a key component for the success of the team.

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.
