What courses are available

Maths and English functional skills

We offer Functional Skills Maths and English to level 2 as online courses. At the end of the courses you will take an exam and gain a qualification that is the equivalent of an A-C at GCSE. Find out more at the City and Guilds website.

  • You can work at home on your computer or in the library if you do not have one to make sure that you are studying for at least 8 hours a week.
  • You will be allocated a trained tutor throughout your course who will help you achieve your qualification.
  • Each level takes approximately 12 weeks to complete.

IT Courses

We offer computer courses which have qualifications at the end of the course.

Functional Skills ICT

We offer Functional Skills computing level 1 and level 2 courses to anyone 19 and over who needs a qualification to get back into the workplace or is on an apprenticeship. These courses cover a wide variety of skills needed in the workplace, including the ones listed below and are accredited by City & Guilds.

  • Internet & email
  • Word processing
  • Spreadsheets and databases

The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)

The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is accredited by the British Computer Society. It is useful if you want to use Microsoft Office products to enable you to gain a qualification to work in an office or for general use at home. It is well recognised in industry as a bench mark for the skills a job applicant has when applying for work. This course covers:

  • Level 1 – Security online, computer basics and Internet & email use.
  • Level 2 – Word processing, Excel Spreadsheets, PowerPoint Presentations and Improving productivity in the workplace.
  • You can work at home on your computer or in the library if you do not have one to make sure that you are studying for at least 8 hours a week.
  • You will be allocated a trained tutor throughout your course who will help you achieve your qualification.
  • Each level takes approximately 12 to 16 weeks to complete.
