Changes to pay and display charges

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Parking Latest

There are some temporary changes to parking and permits during the coronavirus (COVID 19) outbreak. See the: Temporary changes to parking, webpage for more information.

You can now apply for disabled parking bays and access protection markings online. For more details see: Apply for an access protection marking and also see: Apply for disabled parking bay.

Overview

We have increased parking charges to help improve the air quality in our town centres, to reduce congestion and to encourage the use of other methods of transport. Pay and display charging is an effective way to encourage people to make more sustainable travel choices.

Charges for on-street parking have not been changed for more than 10 years. In Eastbourne and Hastings, the charges were last increased in 2008 and in Lewes in 2007. You can find further information about the tariff charges in the report to the Lead Member for Transport and Environment and the proposals for changes in East Sussex parking charges on our consultation hub.
