Parking with a blue badge

You must display the blue badge properly in the windscreen of the vehicle so that it can be clearly seen.

The badge and its concessions are for your use only. If you are using the parking concessions as a passenger, it is your responsibility to make sure that the driver is aware of all the rules set out in The Blue Badge scheme: rights and responsibilities in England. For details about where your badge can be used, see the section titled Where can I park?

Blue badge parking in our CPE schemes

In our parking schemes, blue badge holders can park:

  • in designated blue badge parking bays up to the maximum stay permitted
  • without time limit or payment in
    • pay and display bays
    • time limited bays
    • shared use permit holder and time limited bays
    • shared use permit holder and pay and display bays
    • permit holder only bays (Lewes only)
  • for up to three hours on a single or double yellow line with the clock set to show the time of arrival, and not where there are restrictions on loading or unloading (indicated by yellow kerb dashes).

You should always refer to local restrictions. Contact the parking team for information on concessions.

Car parks

We do not make the rules for blue badge parking in any car parks in East Sussex. Most car parks are owned by the district or borough council.

Restrictions in car parks may be different, you must refer to the signs in the car park when parking.
