Registering a birth

Birth registration

All births should be registered within 42 days.

Birth registration interviews are in person at our register offices.

  • Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your appointment time as there may not be waiting facilities available.
  • Your appointment will take place with social distancing measures in place.
  • You will need to bring a blue or black biro/ball point pen to sign with.
  • We require all visitors to our Register Offices to continue to wear a face covering in public areas and ceremony rooms (unless exempt).
  • Our offices are small, only those essential to the registration should attend. Where the parents are married or in a civil partnership, only one parent can sign the register.
